“Interning at SWA offers a feel for all the conceptual and logistical details of how a nonprofit organization is organized, worked with, sustained, and further developed. All of the interns learned a substantial amount on how a nonprofit like SWA deals with everything from financial assistance and grants, to fundraising, to keeping a network and running events.”

“The most valuable thing I got out of interning at SWA was the experience of working in a professional organization.  I learned the inner-workings of how a non-profit functions and all of the steps that go into the daily process of running it.  I also was able to contribute to the success of the organization and its projects, which taught me how rewarding it is to work for a non-profit organization.”

“SWA gave me, as a freshman year college student, a real chance to communicate with other people of different countries, ideas and beliefs, and helped me realize that while different human rights issues matter to different students all over the world, we can work towards making their corner of the world, and the world at large, a better place just through sharing our ideas.
SWA also have gave me an insight into what it is like to work at a NGO. I think the aims of SWA are truly valuable, and learning about how those aims are implemented in this setting really taught me both the challenges and rewards of working in the non-profit system.”

“One of the most enjoyable aspects of working at SWA was the chance to work and interact with members and staff from around the globe.  During my time as an intern at SWA, I met and worked with some incredible people from as diverse places as China, Columbia, and Iran.”
