On April 13th South Portland High School
chapter will held its "kick-off" event, entitled
"Global Perspectives on Women and HIV/AIDS".
To coincide with other SWA awareness events in New York, Canada
and Ghana concerning this pressing global issue, the three panelists
for the South Portland event bring global expertise from Haiti,
Canada and southern African countries.
South Portland High School's principal Jeanne Crocker
welcomed the participant, and chapter officers introduced SWA
to the audience before the discussion. Panlesits at the event
included Julia McDonald, Executive Director ofMaine AIDS Alliance,
Noel Bonam HIV/STD Program, Shelley White the HIV Care Programs
Coordinator for State of Maine. The panel followed by a reception
catered by Portland restaurants, and laptops will be set up for
those attending to visit SWA's website to post on discussion forums.
