Cal Poly SWA Chapter Established

California—Wednesday May 26, 2004, marked the official launch of the Student World Assembly California Polytechnic State University Chapter in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Students of various backgrounds and majors attended the first official meeting with enthusiastic curiosity of the goals and purpose of Student World Assembly (SWA).

Among the attendees there was a strong desire to contribute to the future success of the SWA organization. Everyone registered on the spot, and several expressed an interest in running for chapter leadership in the upcoming fall 2004 semester. These original members will be involved in the establishment of the chapter during the summer months.

Bud Evans, political science professor and faculty advisor for the SWA Cal Poly chapter, looks forward to guiding this eager group of students in a wide variety of member-initiated activities. The chapter intends to get involved in international activities in addition to organizing local events and fundraisers. Students are excited to establish support and raise awareness within the San Luis Obispo community.

The addition of the SWA Cal Poly chapter is expected to be a success, resulting in fresh ideas and perspectives to be contributed to the SWA as a whole. SWA Cal Poly members look forward to playing an active role in the continued progress of the establishment of the truly global, truly democratic Student World Assembly.
