CAPE COAST UNIVERSITY CHAPTER - Ghana

The University of Cape Coast Chapter was inaugurated on 26 February 2005 at the Cafe' Rooftop with the theme "The Student, An Instrument of Global
Democracy."

Udia Osabutey, Chapter Secretary, read the opening address. Isaac Ankomah, Chapter President, presented a speech on the theme, explaining why the student is a vital instrument in achieving global democracy.

Mr. Onassis Emmanuel Appiah Ayetey, who attended for the Regional Representative, Mr. Kwame Anane Frempong, gave a speech on "Youth and HIV/AIDS,” which is the topic of discussion for the upcoming 2005 SWA International Convention. He also read a message from the Regional Representative, Mr. Frempong. In this message, the Mr. Frempong stressed the need for members to uphold the vision of SWA and to take an active part in the topical issues raised on the discussion board. He also encouraged the SWA-Cape Coast University Chapter to begin research on modern slavery, as it is likely the chapter will soon propose this topic for deliberation in the online discussion forums.

Students were given flyers showing the procedures to follow to register online for SWA membership, and to log into the online discussion forums.
