COAST UNIVERSITY CHAPTER - Ghana
The University of Cape Coast Chapter was inaugurated on 26 February
2005 at the Cafe' Rooftop with the theme "The Student, An
Instrument of Global
Democracy."
Udia Osabutey, Chapter Secretary, read the opening address. Isaac
Ankomah, Chapter President, presented a speech on the theme, explaining
why the student is a vital instrument in achieving global democracy.
Mr. Onassis Emmanuel Appiah Ayetey, who attended for the Regional
Representative, Mr. Kwame Anane Frempong, gave a speech on "Youth
and HIV/AIDS,” which is the topic of discussion for the
upcoming 2005 SWA International Convention. He also read a message
from the Regional Representative, Mr. Frempong. In this message,
the Mr. Frempong stressed the need for members to uphold the vision
of SWA and to take an active part in the topical issues raised
on the discussion board. He also encouraged the SWA-Cape Coast
University Chapter to begin research on modern slavery, as it
is likely the chapter will soon propose this topic for deliberation
in the online discussion forums.
Students were given flyers showing the procedures to follow to
register online for SWA membership, and to log into the online
discussion forums.
