Students World Body To Meet In Accra

Ghana is to host the 3rd annual International Convention of the Students World Assembly (SWA) in Accra from March 8 to 11 this year, to discuss human trafficking issues.

Ghana becomes the first African country to host the convention after the United States and Canada.

The three day convention to be attended by over 500 participants from hundred universities globally is on the theme: "Human Trafficking: A Re-emergence of Slavery in the World".

The convention is aimed at brainstorming the students and the public on the changing paradigm of slavery, with emphasis on child trafficking and child slavery with particular focus on Ghana and grass-roots approaches on the issue of human trafficking.

It also seeks to better equip the students and youth with the necessary information to actively take part in advocacy for the eradication of human trafficking in Ghana and globally to shape society's behaviour and attitude.

The convention will include activities like a regional convention, online discussion and an essay writing competition to gather adequate knowledge of students on human trafficking issues.

Mr Kwame Anane Frempong, National Coordinator of SWA said all is set for the programme and appealed to corporate organisations to support the convention through sponsorship.
