DECISION A:
ENDING THE TRAFFICKING OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Student World Assembly will focus its advocacy for victims of human trafficking around the plight of and abuses against women and children who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation and for other reasons, such as for surrogate mothers, forced marriages, and other abuses of womanhood.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the SWA will pressure government legislation and local/national officials and lawmakers to ensure protection of women and children, through passing legislation, comparable to that of Swedish Prostitution Law of 1999, which condemns prostitution as violence against women; and that will criminalize individuals seeking sexual services from women and children, and to prevent further criminalization of women and girls who have been coerced or forced into the sex trade; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members of SWA will commit themselves to undertake local action and educational campaigns and initiatives at their educational facilities and within communities, to provide peers, teachers, families and friends with knowledge about the crisis of increasing sexual exploitation of trafficked women and children; and

Be it further resolved that the various chapters of the SWA support people monitoring this trafficking at the chapter level by putting into place strong anti-trafficking policies.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SWA Chapters and members will hold regional events to combat sexual exploitation of trafficked women and children through collaboration and forming coalitions with non-governmental human rights groups, universities, and governmental officials with the support and guidance of SWA staff and volunteer leaders.



DECISION B:
ENDING THE TRAFFICKING OF CHILDREN AND MINORS FOR LABOR, SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND/OR ARMED CONFLICT

Therefore be it resolved that SWA supports family planning and the use and promotion of various methods of birth control so that families will be able to sufficiently care for all of their children.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA promotes strong educational programs on basic human rights for both parents and children so that both parties will realize and recognize when a violation of rights occurs and an injustice is done.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA put pressure on government and law enforcement agencies to enforce existing anti-trafficking laws.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA endorses the involvement of local religious and community leaders to highlight and educate about this issue of human trafficking with the community on a non-governmental level.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA promotes non-conventional, creative communication and publicity on the topic of human trafficking, using methods such as photography, video presentations, first-hand accounts, and more, to reach a wider public.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA calls for the creation of local secretariats at which the abovementioned programs can be carried out.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA urges the creation of SWA informants within the various communities, in the form of neighborhood watch, in order to report these crimes directly to law enforcement officers and agencies.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Student World Assembly will focus its advocacy for child victims of human trafficking by aiming to enforce all local and international legal instruments pertaining to the protection of children's rights. The SWA members will make the Convention on the Rights of the Child the focus of its advocacy towards governments, to demand either the ratification or legal implementation of the convention; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the SWA will pressure government legislation and local/national officials and lawmakers to ensure protection of children, through providing strong legal penalties for traffickers, employers, militia or others that seek illegal services from children; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members of SWA will commit themselves to undertake local action and educational events and initiatives in their educational facilities and communities, to provide peers, teachers, families and friends with knowledge about the child victims of human trafficking, in regards to sexual exploitation, forced labor or recruitment as child soldiers; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SWA Chapters and members will hold regional campaigns to combat all forms of exploitation of trafficked children through collaboration with non-governmental human rights groups, universities, and governmental officials with the support and guidance of SWA staff and volunteer leaders.



DECISION C:
ENDING THE TRAFFICKING OF PERSONS FOR PURPOSES OF FORCED LABOR

Therefore be it resolved that the SWA encourages government ministries to advocate for specified proposals and programs to tackle human trafficking issues.

Therefore be it further resolved that the SWA underlines the importance of earlier detection of the activities of human trafficking rings and inherent violations of human rights.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that as a component for members taking action the 2007 Most Pressing Global Issue of Human Trafficking, members will focus activities on highlighting extreme and gross violations of human rights through forced labor of trafficked persons; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the SWA will pressure government legislation and local/national officials and lawmakers to ensure protection of victims of human trafficking for the purposes of forced labor and economic abuse; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members of SWA will commit themselves to undertake local action and educational campaigns and initiatives in their educational facilities and communities, to provide peers, teachers, families and friends with knowledge about the victims of human trafficking in regards to forced labor; including and keeping in mind traditional rulers/leaders and customs as well.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SWA Chapters and members will hold regional events to combat all forms of labor exploitation of trafficked men, women and children through collaboration with non-governmental human rights groups, universities, and governmental officials through support and guidance of SWA staff and volunteer leaders.
