Information Technology Internship Information
Interns will work directly with their Team Coordinators and other staff, and are responsible for increasing awareness of and commitment to the Student World Assembly?s mission. Interns will work among a broad range of audiences, most particularly opinion leaders, educators, policy makers, and the general membership. Internships are unpaid but maybe done for academic credit or on a volunteer basis. A candidate must be an undergraduate student; a graduate student; or have graduated from college within twelve months at the beginning of the internship. Interns are expected to work between 15-20 hours a week. Internships are offered during the Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring semesters. Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between the SWA and the intern's college or university.

Skills:
Knowledge of MS Office products, internet navigation; ability
to organize administrative projects; demonstrate clear and effective
written and verbal communication skills; ability to meet deadlines
and maintain a flexible schedule; strong diplomatic skills in dealing
with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds; awareness
of and sensitivity to a variety of cultural perspectives; awareness
of prominent global issues.
Web Developer/Design: The applicant should be
comfortable developing/designing visual interface and coding in
HTML. Candidates should have knowledge of at least on or more of
the following applications: DreamWaver, FrontPage, Flash, Access
and Photoshop or Fireworks.
Web Programmer: Should have experience in the programming
language of ASP.Net, JavaScript and have some background in the
web servers and database design.
Data Management: The applicant should be experienced with
database structures and at least one of the following applications:
Access, Microsoft SQL.
Graphic Designer: Proficiency with Photoshop is
required. Knowledge of Flash, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or other
software is a plus but optional.
Primary Responsibilities:
Each Intern will be responsible for one or more of the following tasks depending on their abilities:
- Develop and maintain
website to ensure timeliness, accuracy and consistency of site
- Writing efficient web
applications and maintaining and redesign existing web applications
using ASP.NET
- Design, develop and
maintain databases.
- Creating and linking
databases to the user interface.
- Create designs, concepts,
layouts for website, publications, advertisements and other printed
and graphic materials.
- prepare comprehensive
layouts of the design using techniques such as photography, illustration
and computer-generated imagery
- Assisting in collaboration
and design of marketing tools
